Dr. Ajmere is currently working at Curtis School in Los Angeles as the Director of Academic Services and Psychologist. She is on the leadership team at Curtis and has a vested interest in women in Leadership. Dr. Ajmere is also a licensed yoga instruct which deepens her understanding of the mind-body connection. Her cultural makeup and upbringing inform her work as a leader in independent schools.

Dr. Ajmere served at the Upper School Psychologist at Harvard-Westlake. She moved to Los Angeles from Chicago where she was working as the Upper School Psychologist at Francis W. Parker School. Before working in independent schools, she worked in University Counseling Centers and has worked at Ohio State, Washington University and De Paul University. She has also taught several graduate courses at Chicago School of Professional Psychology and Roosevelt University.

Meilan Akaka Manfre’s journey in equity work began as a special education teacher at the largest public high school in the state of Hawaiʻi as a 2008 Teach For America corps member. She now serves as Managing Director of the Alumni Network for Teach For America Hawaiʻi, is part of Teach For Americaʻs Asian American Pacific Islander Advisory Council and is a former member of the Native Alliance Initiative Advisory Council. She provides quality coaching and professional development for teacher leaders and administrators to authentically lead in ways that center diversity, equity and inclusiveness. Meilan holds a BA in music, MEd in special education and is highly qualified in secondary math and teacher leadership.

Arakaki was a teacher at Kauai High’s alternative learning center (1988-90), Waipahu High (1980-88), and Kailua High (1979-80).

His Hawaii career started at Maui High, where he was a business teacher and wrestling coach for six years. From 1997 to 2000, he served as the vice principal at Maui High, Lahainaluna High, King Kamehameha III Elementary, and Kihei Elementary schools, and was named principal of King Kamehameha III in 2001.

Bill Bass currently serves as the Innovation Coordinator for Instructional Technology, Information, and Library Media in the Parkway School District in St. Louis, MO and as the President of the ISTE (International Society of Technology in Education) Board of Directors. During his 20+ career in education, he has also held positions as an English teacher, adjunct professor, technology integration specialist, instructional coach and consultant. As a speaker, writer and developer, he focuses on systemic and sustainable integration of technology into classrooms at all grade levels and seeks to empower students and teachers with authentic learning experiences. He is often called upon to share his thinking as a speaker and presenter and has been fortunate to learn with educators from around the world. He has also written numerous articles, book chapters and has authored three books, Leading from the Library, From Inspiration to Red Carpet and Digital Reading: What’s essential in grades 3-8.
